Amira Abouzahra was born 2005 in Germany. At the age of four she decided to play the violin. Since 2019 she has been a student in the violin class of Prof. Dora Schwarzberg at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Her former teachers were Alexander Gawrilenko, Eszter Haffner and Gábor Homoki.
She made her orchestra debut at the age of seven with the Mexico State Symphony Orchestra. Since then, Amira has given concerts in 21 countries of Europe, Asia and America and has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as Kremerata Baltica, Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Concerto Budapest, Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester, Budapest String Orchestra, Oradea State Philharmonic Orchestra, MÁV Symphony Orchestra and many others.
2017 Amira gave her debut at the Berliner Philharmonie with Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. In 2019 Plácido Domingo invited her to perform with him at the Aarhus Concert House in Denmark. This was followed by concerts at Lincoln Center New York, Covent Garden London, Palace of Arts Budapest, Royal Opera House Muscat, Old Parliament House Singapore, Europe Palace Strasbourg and Pearl Tower Shanghai.
She has performed in numerous festivals such as Golden Violins of Odessa, Verbier Festival, IMS Prussia Cove, Kaposfest Hungary, Muscat Chamber Music Series, Operalia Gala by Plácido Domingo, Cziffra Festival, Les Folles Journées J.S.Bach de Lutry, Budapest Fest Shanghai, Festival Academy Budapest, InspirArt, Chieti Classica Italy, Sommersinfoni Valdres and isaFestival Semmering.
Amira was awarded 1. prize at the competition “Jugend musiziert” in Germany, 1. prize at the International Ilona Fehér Violin Competition in Hungary, 1. prize and Special Prize of the F. Liszt Chamber Orchestra in Virtuosos Talent Show Hungary, 1. prize at the A. Grumiaux International Violin Competition, Silver Medal and Audience Prize at Virtuosos V4+, 1. Prize and Special Prize at the International Instrumental and Vocal Performance Contest Oradea, the Golden Star Award at Music and Stars Awards, the Kodály Award and String Soloist Award at ISA Festival, she is a laureate of the International Fritz Kreisler Violin Competition and recently she has been awarded the Grant Career Award of the Charlotte White Foundation New York.
Amira attended masterclasses with Maxim Vengerov, Kristóf Baráti, István Várdai, György Pauk, Julian Rachlin, Schlomo Mintz, Mimi Zweig, with members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, at IMS Prussia Cove with András Keller and Gerhard Schulz and at the Blackmore Academy Berlin with Dmitry Sitkovetsky. 2022 Amira has been invited as “Artist of Promise” to participate at the prestigious Verbier Festival and Academy with Augustin Dumay, Guy Braunstein and Midori.
Amira was a scholarship holder of the Domhof Foundation and is a member artist of Yehudi Menuhin’s Live Music Now and the Young Masters Ensemble of the MDW in Vienna. She is 1st concert master of the Symphony Orchestra MGW Vienna.
Together with her sister Mariam, Amira recorded all works for 2 violins by Hungarian composer Sándor Szokolay for the Szokolay Foundation.
